About Analytical Services Branch

ASB provides analytical and research support to DOE and its Agencies across a wide range of areas related to Environment, Road Safety, Driver & Vehicle Testing/Licensing and Planning. Key functions and contacts are provided below.

Branch Functions

• Publication of Road Safety Monitor, Seat Belt Survey, Quarterly/Annual Local Authority Collected Municipal Waste Management Statistics, Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Environmental Indicators Report and Planning Service Quarterly/Annual Development Management Bulletins

• Policy/strategy support including indicator development and monitoring

• Development of new data sources and data collection systems

• Production of internal performance management reports

• Equality monitoring and Equality Impact Assessments

• Statistical modelling, forecasting and operational research

• Advising and assisting with surveys (sampling, questionnaire design, analysis) and research commissioning

• Geographic Information Support (GIS)

• Production of briefing, answering public queries, AQs and FOI requests

• Provision of statistical guidance and quality assurance of data and release practices in line with Official Statistics Code of Practice
