About CSRB
Branch Functions
The branch carries out statistical and research work relating to transport, road safety, the environment and housing starts and completions. Branch publications include quarterly Road and Rail Transport bulletins; annual Transport Statistics reports; Annual Seat Belt survey and Road Safety Monitor. CSRB also regularly contributes to other statistics publications including the Northern Ireland Social Brief, Regional Trends and Social Trends.
Briefing and Queries
We provide briefing for Ministers, answer Assembly Questions and respond to a wide range of queries from within government, academic and commercial organisations and the public.
Research, Advice and Research Management
The statisticians both carry out and advise DRD and DOE on: surveys; sampling; policy evaluations; and how to devise performance indicators and targets. They also commission and manage external research and large scale surveys on behalf of policy customers. Branch members have expertise in carrying out Equality Impact Assessments and on statistics and research relating to New Targeting Social Need (New TSN).
