Equality Unit
The Equality Unit in the Department of the Environment has lead responsibility for enabling the Department to meet its statutory commitments set out in Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.
The Department's disability action plan (589KB)   sets out how it proposes to fulfil the new duties under section 49A of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in relation to its functions.
DOE Equality Scheme (313KB) The Department is fully committed to meeting its statutory obligations on the promotion of equality and good relations. This Equality Scheme confirms that commitment and sets out the Departments plans for fulfilling those obligations.
DOE Equality Scheme Complaints Procedure (28KB) This complaints procedure is to ensure that all staff in the Department have uniform procedures for dealing with complaints from people who believe that they have been directly affected by a failure of the Department to comply with its Equality Scheme.
