Freedom of Information - What we publish

Our publications are organised into classes of information in line with the Information Commissioner's guidance on Departmental Publication Schemes. This site is currently being populated.

The information contained within these classes will be retained in line with the Department's retention and disposal schedules. The classes of information are structured within the following categories:

Classes for Internal Guidance and Procedures

Class: Departmental Premises Management Guide
Description: Guidance notes issued to officers with premises management responsibilities. (Some of the information in this class may be derived from documents which we consider to contain exempt information. Where this occurs, the material will clearly show where information has been withheld and explain what exemption has been applied and why.)

Class: DOE Accounting Procedures
Description: Current guidance for all staff to help ensure that purchases on goods or services is incurred subject to proper authorisation, within delegated levels of responsibility and brought to account.

Class: DOE Grants
Description: Current guidance to staff on the administration of DOE Grants (Some of the information in this class may be derived from documents which we consider to contain exempt information. Where this occurs, the material will clearly show where information has been withheld and explain what exemption has been applied and why.)

Class: EPD Practical Guide to Policy Making
Description: Current advice and guidance on policy making for all Environmental Policy Division staff.

Class: Guidance on use of Consultants
Description: This document provides all DOE staff with current guidance on employing external consultants.

Class: Health and Safety Policy Procedures
Description: Current procedures for implementing Departmental Health and Safety Policy.

Class: Induction Pack
Description: Current induction information for new staff.

Class: Internal Technical Guidance
Description: This class of information includes Driver Vehicle Testing Agency current guidance to staff on administrative and technical procedures, and Environment and Heritage guidance on air pollution control and pollution prevention. (Some of the information in this class may be derived from documents which we consider to contain exempt information. Where this occurs, the material will clearly show where information has been withheld and explain what exemption has been applied and why.)

Class: Major Emergency Response Plan (MERP)
Description: The Department’s MERP is an over arching document which explains DOE’s responsibility in the event of a major emergency in NI. It sets out the DOE lead role responsibility and what action the Department would take should a major emergency occur. (Some of the information in this class may be derived from documents which we consider to contain exempt information. Where this occurs, the material will clearly show where information has been withheld and explain what exemption has been applied and why.)

Class: Procedures for Recruiting casual staff
Description: Current guidance for all staff on procedures for recruitment of casual staff.

Class: Prompt Payment Guidelines
Description: This document sets out current requirements/ guidelines relating to the prompt payment of invoices.

Class: Public Appointments
Description: Current guidance to all DOE staff on the procedure required when carrying out public appointments and the reconstitution of advisory councils.

Class: Published Research
Description: All current published research, which has received Ministerial and/or Board approval.
