Member of the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee
The Department of the Environment wishes to appoint a new member to the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee (NILGOSC).
Term of Appointment
NILGOSC is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body, established to administer the Northern Ireland Local Government Pension Scheme and to manage the pension fund for district councils and other admitted bodies in Northern Ireland. In addition the Committee is the Pension Board of the Local Government Pension Scheme for Northern Ireland. The Committee consists of a Chairperson and 12 members, 5 from employer representatives, 5 from employee representatives and 2 independent members. Further information can be obtained from www.nilgosc.org.uk The Department are seeking to appoint one new representative from an employer organisation. The appointment will be for a four year term, effective from 1st November, 2015.
Time Commitment and Remuneration
Members will be expected to attend and contribute to full Committee meetings and may be required to serve on Committee’s sub-committees. The time commitment for each Member is equivalent to approximately 2 full days per month. Committee members are eligible for a daily allowance not exceeding £117 plus reasonable travel expenses payable in line with current Local Government rates.
Skills and Experience
No specific academic or other qualifications are required for the posts. The department wishes to appoint persons to the Committee who can provide a blend of relevant experience and knowledge and make a contribution to its work. Appointments will be made from those individuals who best satisfy the criteria set out for the posts –
