Local Government Reform About Us
The Local Government Reform Division was established to support the development and delivery of the major change programme required in response to the need to both modernise local government, and implement the decisions flowing from the Review of Public Administration.
The Division is responsible for:
- developing and managing the overall programme of change in consultation with all key stakeholders;
- supporting the work of the implementation structures;
- informing the legislation required to restructure and modernise local government;
- co-ordinating the work of NI departments on the legislative framework required to effect the transfer of functions from central to local government; and,
- developing mechanisms to support the effective transfer of these functions.
