How the Local Government Reform Programme will be Delivered
A number of stakeholders - including the DOE Local Government Policy Division (LGPD), the current 26 councils and the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) - are driving this change forward to ensure a considered, balanced and meaningful reform process.
Preparation is well underway for Local Government Reform and implementation structures have been established to work on different aspects of the programme to ensure a smooth move from 26 to 11 councils.
