LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF COMMISSION

The Department of the Environment are planning to appoint a Chairman and up to 14 Members to the Local Government Staff Commission for Northern Ireland (the Commission), with effect from 01 December 2010.  Application forms are available for information. The closing date for applications was 4.30pm Friday 30 April 2010.

NILGA President Cllr. John Matthews welcomes Environment Minister Edwin Poots to the NILGA conference in Newcastle.

Visits to Transition Committees

Transition committees have been set up in each of the new council areas to enable a smooth changeover to the new local government arrangements. Minister Poots has visited a number of the committees to view their progress and to encourage them to maintain the momentum already built up.

The Local Government Reform Programme will see the amalgamation of the three councils and Transition Committees have been established in each of the new council areas to ensure a smooth transition to the new structures.
