Estates Sub-Group
Background Information The aim of the Estates Sub-Group was to consider the following issues:
- the implications for local authority estate moving from 26 councils to 7 and for councils assuming additional responsibilities from central government
- the identification of opportunities to rationalise the estate by adopting different ways of working introduced in the Review, including the imperative for greater integration and coordination of services
- the identification of examples of best practice in the management and rationalisation of corporate real estate by local authorities
- the setting out of the process for achieving the transformation in the estate
- the identification of existing relevant legislation and the potential legislative implications for the local government estate moving form 26 councils to 7
