Working Group

Background
As part of the process for creating an effective new council structure, the Working Group was set up to consider the recommendations of the nine Modernisation Sub-Groups, as well as presentations from Departments with functions transferring.

The Working Group was chaired by the Department of the Environment (DOE) Permanent Secretary and members included:

• public, private and community sector representatives
• a number of independent experts

Further Developments
As a result of the recommendations in the report of the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), the Strategic Leadership Board (SLB) was formed in January 2007.
