Councillors’ Remuneration Panel
The Department of the Environment is establishing the Councillors’ Remuneration Panel to advise on a system and level of allowances that will fairly reflect the roles and responsibilities of councillors in the new councils after local government reform. The Panel will also consider allowances to be paid during the shadow period following the local government elections in 2014.

Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee
NILGOSC is an Executive Non-Departmental Public Body, established to administer the Northern Ireland Local Government Pension Scheme. It consists of a Chairperson and 12 members, 5 from employer representatives, 5 from employee representatives and 2 independent members.
