Local Government Primary Legislation

Primary legislation is:

• made by the legislative branch of local government
• a general term used for the main laws passed by this body
• otherwise known as ‘statutes’

The Local Government Policy Division (LGPD) is responsible for the following:

  How councils can improve services and functions.
  

• The Local Government (Northern Ireland) Order 2005
  The general duties of local government auditors.
