Central \ Local Government Relationships

The aim of the Central/Local Government Relationship subgroup was to identify:

the most appropriate mechanisms to provide the optimum liaison between central and local government in carrying out their separate but inter-related functions
legislative proposals required to implement these mechanisms
an outline implementation plan to develop the new arrangements and put them in place for 2009.

Recommendations to the Taskforce

The recommendations from the Subgroup represented the thinking of key stakeholders on the key issues, to help inform the decisions of the Taskforce. Consideration of these issues will be continued through the work of the Policy Development Panels.
