Environmental Governance

The Minister of the Environment has requested that the Department look, again, at environmental governance in Northern Ireland.

As issues around the environment develop and grow, it is appropriate to make further assessment of the best model of environmental governance going forward.  

As a starting point the Department issued an initial discussion document on 5 August 2011 entitled Environmental Governance in Northern Ireland (link is below). The document is not intended to be prescriptive but sets out a number of options for consideration.

The Minister is keen to promote early debate and would welcome feedback on the suggested options by 9 September 2011. The discussion document and other related documents can be accessed below:
