Natural Environment

In working to conserve Northern Ireland's natural environment DOE is concerned with wildlife, species and their habitats with rocks, sediments, landforms and rural landscapes on a broader scale.

The Natural Environment Unit within Planning and Environmental Policy Group works with various bodies including our colleagues in the Northern Ireland Environment Agency to develop and implement a wide range of government policies in Northern Ireland.

Topics covered include the Biodiversity, Habitats & Species Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM), and National Parks. For policy and legislation information on these topics go to the further information section on this page.

In addition to the above you will find further specific information on the Landscape  and Biodiversity Sections of the NIEA website;
