Statutory Advisory Councils
Planning and Environmental Policy Group is responsible for the reconstitution and administration of the three department’s Statutory Advisory Councils (SACs). The three Councils are as follows:
- Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside (CNCC)
- to advise the Department of the Environment on matters affecting the countryside of Northern Ireland and on nature conservation issues.
- Historic Buildings Council (HBC)
- to advise the Department of the Environment on matters relating to the preservation of buildings of special architectural or historic interest.
- Historic Monuments Council (HMC)
- to advise the Department of the Environment on matters relating to the protection, preservation, conservation and investigation of historic monuments; archaeological sites, landscapes, their settings and archaeological objects.
