Genetically Modified OrganismsPlanning and Environmental Policy Group is responsible for the policy and legislation on the environmental safety of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) in Northern Ireland. Summary of Responses to the Department's Coexistence Consultation Paper In January 2007 the Department of the Environment consulted stakeholders on proposals for managing the coexistence of GM and non-GM crops in Northern Ireland, should approved GM varieties be grown here commercially in the future. However, before our coexistence plans can be developed further, we are conscious that there are a number of developments that could have an important bearing on how we move forward.
