PROPOSALS FOR AMENDMENTS TO WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENSING EXEMPTIONS RELATING TO HAZARDOUS WASTE.

This consultation seeks comments on proposed changes to the regime of waste management licensing exemptions in Northern Ireland that fully meet the requirements of the Hazardous Waste Directive.

The main aim of this review is to amend the conditions of those exemptions that relate to hazardous waste to ensure they are compliant with European law, and at the same time take steps to improve the protection of the environment and the safeguarding of human health, whilst ensuring that business and industry can benefit from the light touch regulation offered by exemptions.
