Mr Robert Shields (54) of Greencastle Street, Kilkeel was today fined £200 (plus £19 court costs) at Newry Magistrates' Court for carrying scrap metal without a registered waste carriers licence.
Mr Shields was stopped by PSNI officers in March 2012 and was discovered to be carrying a range of scrap metals (including boilers, sinks, radiators and piping) without the appropriate licence.
The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) took Mr Shields to court under Article 38 of the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997.
