Biodiversity and Climate Change
Last updated: 11 May 2010
Northern Ireland’s flora and fauna is adapted to climatic conditions which have been relatively stable since the end of the last ice-age, around 10,000 years ago.
We are now seeing rapid changes in climate on a global scale. This is likely to threaten the survival of many species and habitats.
Addressing the problems arising from climate change is a conservation priority for us and much of our future work will be concerned with helping our wildlife adapt to changing environmental conditions.
