Two - Tone Reed Beetle

  • the adults are a greenish-gold colour on the upper side, but with a more silvery underside.
  • this beetle is found on bur-reeds near to water in summer.
  • the Two-tone reed beetle can be found in many lakes in Fermanagh, mainly in the Upper Lough Erne system, and also Armagh and Tyrone, with old records from Antrim
  • adult beetles can be found from May to August, with a major peak in June
  • the Two-tone reed beetle is associated with branched-bur reedOpens in New window growing along the margins of rivers, and sometimes ponds, lakes and canals; proximity to flowing water seems to be preferred.
