Refinement of a novel method for measuring reaeration in surface waters
Last updated: 27 March 2009
Project Promoter: Queen's University Belfast (www.qub.ac.uk
)
Project Number: BSP 7734
This project relates to the capacity of rivers to recover from oxygen-depleting pollutants, such as wastewater discharges and agricultural runoff. It involves the refinement of a practical and “environmentally friendly” method to measure the rate of reaeration, the natural process which determines whether receiving waters will return to their normal state.
The project received £47,426 in grant assistance.
