NIEA Strategic Priorities 2012 - 2022
The Northern Ireland Environment Agency has a wide range of responsibilities for the environment. Since the Agency was formed in 1996 we have seen big changes in our duties.
|We have taken stock of where we are going to help us deliver better service and address the challenges we face on climate change, the economy and social well-being. This will enable us to link our activities better with people’s needs. It will help guide our organisation and our partners on where to focus effort to make the best use of new opportunities and innovation.|
This plan sets out our strategic direction over the next ten years to bring together our diverse roles and guide corporate business planning. It is aimed at everyone who works for us and with us to help them to understand what we do and where we fit. It describes:
- The context for our work, who we are, what we do and how we deliver
- Our strategic goals and actions under four priority themes –
- Healthy Natural Environment,
- People and Places,
- Sustainable Economic Growth,
- Using Our Resources Well
- How we will measure and monitor success.
The Strategic Priorities will be underpinned by performance monitoring under State of the Environment reporting, for which the next major publication is due in 2013.
