Working Together
The Department of the Environment (DOE) has been identified as the competent authority (.PDF 226Kb)
to coordinate implementation of the Water Framework Directive.
We are the lead body on the technical work. Delivery rests with DOE in partnership with the Department of Regional Development (DRD), the Department Culture and Leisure (DCAL) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD).
The River Basin Management Plan will be implemented through Local Management Areas (LMAs).
Local Management Area Action Plans will be developed and implemented on a three-year rolling programme:
2010 - Lower Lough Erne, Owenkillew and Burn Dennet and Foyle
2011 - Upper Lough Erne, Derg and Mourne and Roe
2012 - Lough Melvin and Arney, Strule and Faughan
