Invasive Species Project Belfast Hills Partnership
The Belfast Hills present a stunning backdrop to a thriving urban area.
From Colin Mountain in the south to Carnmoney Hill in the north, the great shoulders of these dramatic hills have sheltered Belfast, Lisburn and Newtownabbey across the ages.
In the Belfast Hills, some of this biodiversity is under threat or in need of our help.
Belfast Hills secured funding from us for 2008-2010 for the Colin River Invasive Species Project.
Mapping and controlling Japanese Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam is well under way.
These videos featuring the Belfast Hills Biodiversity Officer Lizzie Pinkerton, tell us how the project has progressed.
