This site is of interest because of the wide range of grassland types that it supports. It comprises of a block of hay-meadows of varied aspect and wetness. Jointed rush is usually dominant, with grasses such as sweet vernal grass, quaking grass, red fescue and heath grass generally receiving low cover values.
Sedges are invariably abundant especially on flushed slopes and include Carex pulicaris, Carex panicea, Carex flacca and Carex hostiana.

Several rare or local vascular plants occur, including bog pimpernel, and the nationally rare blue eyed grass.
