A large, relatively intact lowland raised bog forming a distinct peatland unit set amongst low drumlins. The intact bog surface exhibits a well defined dome with characteristic vegetation and structural features, including hummock and lawn complexes and small shallow pools. picture of cross leaved heathThe bog surface is permanently wet and supports a dense and diverse cover of Sphagnum bog-mosses including the rare hummock forming moss Sphagnum imbricatum.
