Drumcrow is an important site because of its diverse fen flora. Fens are wetlands that are rapidly disappearing from our countryside due to drainage, infilling and nutrient enrichment.
Drumcrow contains a number of wetland habitats including fen, fen meadow, wet grassland and open water. The fen is dominated by sedges and rushes along with flowering plants such as meadowsweet, lesser spearwort, and cuckoo flower. The fen meadow contains sedges and grasses along with attractive flowering plants such as devil's-bit scabious, marsh violet, and meadow thistle.
