McKean's Moss Part II consists of a small area of cutover bog adjacent to McKean's Moss ASSI in County Tyrone.
The raised bog system represents the most extreme north-western example of a lowland raised bog in Northern Ireland.
The cutover bog within this site is now dominated by downy birch with frequent willow where the water table is maintained at a higher level.
The ground flora is dominated by Sphagnum mosses and dense stands of purple moor-grass. These old hand cuttings provide additional habitat diversity to McKean's Moss ASSI and are integral to the hydrological integrity of the bog.
