This site is the second largest semi-natural deciduous woodland in the Sperrins; in fact it is one of the finest river valley woodlands in Northern Ireland.
picture of lesser celandine flowers © Robert ThompsonThe canopy is dominated by Sessile oak with planted beech and frequent downy birch. Rowan, hazel, sycamore and goat willow all occur occasionally.
The understorey is composed of holly and regenerating canopy species.
Greater wood-rush and bilberry form the ground cover, with bluebell and lesser celandine locally dominant were the slopes are enriched.
