Our research and development programme gives us the high quality scientific evidence that is essential in assisting with our planning and decision making processes. Evidence based decision making makes sure that we can protect, conserve and promote Northern Ireland’s natural and built environment in the most effective way possible.

  • research and development projects
  • library resources
  • database infrastructures and
  • staff expertise.

Our scientific staff develop and deliver research projects internally but we also work closely with other environmental organisations across the UK and Ireland to identify and meet our research and development needs and to share knowledge. Where possible, we take part in joint working to make sure we get maximum value for money.
