Hillsborough Fort and Courthouse
Last updated: 30 September 2011
Hillsborough courthouse was originally a market house and built before 1765. From 1810, this splendid Georgian building was used as a courthouse with the Grand Jury meeting in the upper room from around that time.
A major conservation scheme won a coveted Civic Trust Award in 1999. The building is now used for exhibitions and functions, and is home to one of Lisburn City Council Tourist Information Centres.
Hillsborough Fort is nearby, with an entrance through wrought iron gates across the square from the courthouse.
