Certain waste activities require a Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) Permit rather than a waste licence. Such activities include waste incineration, disposal of waste by landfill and production of fuel from waste. These activities are described in more detail in Schedule 1, Section 5 of the PPC Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003.

Determination of the applicability of the PPC regulations and preparation of a PPC application is a complex process, therefore it is recommended that you contact NIEA before starting to prepare an application.
