Paragraph 27

A guide to the legislation is given below. Read through this to help you decide if this exemption covers the type of activity that you wish to undertake.

Exempted Activity

Paragraph 27 allows baling, compacting, crushing, shredding or pulverising of waste at the place where it is produced.

Storage and Location

Waste which is to be submitted to any of the above treatments may be stored temporarily, at the site where it was produced.

The full wording of the paragraph 27 exemption can be found in Schedule 2 of the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003. These Regulations have been amended a number of times. Relevant Objectives in relation to the disposal or recovery of waste are given in paragraph 4 of Schedule 3 to the Regulations.

Paragraph 27 is NOT required to be registered in accordance with the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (as amended).
