Paragraph 29 The Disposal of Specified Wastes at the Place of Production in an Incinerator.
A guide to the legislation is given below. Read through this to help you decide if this exemption covers the type of activity that you wish to undertake.
Exempted Activity
The disposal of waste at the place where it is produced, by the person producing it, by burning it in an incinerator which has a net rated thermal input1 of less than 0.3 megawatt if the total amount of waste burned does not exceed 50 kg per hour.
Waste Stream(s) Permitted
Clean wood, Straw, Vegetable Waste and Animal Carcasses2.
Quantity
The total amount of waste burned must not exceed 50 kg per hour in an incinerator which has a net rated thermal input of less than 0.3 megawatts.
Storage and location
Waste must be securely stored at the place of production.
Interpretation
1”Net rated thermal input”, means the rate at which fuel can be burned at the maximum continuous rating of the appliance multiplied by the net calorific value of the fuel and expressed as megawatts thermal.
