MVRUS - Traffic Signs

Shape and colour convey meaning. If you are some distance from a road sign its displayed information may be difficult to read but its shape and colour are reasonably distinct.

Usually warning signs are triangular and coloured red.

Compulsory signs are round, and are coloured blue or have red boundaries.

Information signs are rectangular and have various colours e.g. on a motorway information signs have a blue background; on primary routes information signs have a green background; tourist information signs have a brown background.

Signs with a red circle are mostly prohibitive.
