The Public Consultation on preparing a new Road Safety Strategy for Northern Ireland ran from 16 March 2010 to 9 July 2010.

The consultation paper outlined the key challenges to be addressed over the lifetime of the strategy and proposed a number of action measures agreed by the statutory road safety partners. We invited views on preparing a new road safety strategy for Northern Ireland that will shape the way ahead for safety on our roads over the next decade.

Over 2,000 responses to the public consultation were received and helped inform the creation of the new Road Safety Strategy to 2020 (see Road Safety Strategy to 2020 webpage).

We have prepared a Consultation Report to collate the responses and the key issues highlighted by those who responded and this is available below.  Annex A is part of the Consultation Report and Annexes B to F are provided separately for ease of reference.

The Department engaged with stakeholders prior to preparing the consultation paper on the new road safety strategy and a summary of that engagement is attached below.
